Sweet passion from South America.
The passion fruit originally comes from Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. Today it is cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. Botanically speaking, the passion fruit is a berry. The ripe fruit is yellow in color, oval in shape, about ten centimeters long and smooth-skinned. Inside are countless seeds wrapped in orange-yellow, juicy, jelly-like coatings, the so-called arilli.
But there is much more to this fruit. In addition to a high vitamin C content, passion fruit contains large amounts of the B vitamins niacin and riboflavin. The former has an antioxidant effect and is important for the regeneration of skin, muscles and nerves. The latter is valuable for the metabolism.
The aromatic, sweet taste of passion fruit is perfect for ice cream and desserts and can be found in many dairy products in Central Europe. Passion fruit juice is also very popular.
Ecuador and Peru are the largest exporters of passion fruit juice and juice concentrate. They cover 80-85 % of the world market demand. Our company has more than 25 years of experience in the production of direct juice, juice concentrate and puree with seeds.
